In the beginning of July we threw an “ALOHA TO 50” party for my mom! We decided to go with a Party Like a Pineapple theme! I liked the idea of this party because it was a spin on a luau! You could call it a classy luau!

My sisters and I had so much fun planning and decorating for this party in honor of our mom! You will find pictures of all of our decor and more! You will find centerpieces, a Tropical Sangria recipe, our photo booth and more!

For centerpieces we made these awesome pineapple flower arrangements, gold sparkly votive candles and chevron table runners! We made the pineapple centerpieces out of actual pineapples, spray painted them gold and added flowers (in short). I will be posting a separate blog post with step by step directions on how to make these tropical centerpieces. The votive candles were very simple to make! We bought plain glass votive candle holders and yellow candles from Jo Ann Fabrics. We then bought spray adhesive and gold glitter! All you do is spray the adhesive on the bottom and sprinkle on the glitter! So easy to make and so cute! We also added some fun chevron table runners from Amazon (buy these table runners). For total set up, we laid white fabric table cloths with the chevron table runners on top of it. We then placed cute cake holders ($1 Section at Target)! and placed the pineapple centerpiece on top and then the votive candles around it!

We decided to make a DIY Photo Booth! Photo Booths really get guest excited and having fun! Our structure of our Photo Booth was actually a clothing rack! We bought the rack from Target. We also bought a solid black fabric shower curtain for the curtain (only $15!) and it worked really well for our backdrop. Then we started decorating!

I made this “Aloha to 50” sign! I started out at JoAnn Fabrics and bought a wooden sign to pain. Below are pictures of how I used it. I bought black and white spray paint to make things easy, paint will work to. I like that the spray paint made the would look a little faded. I also bought wooden numbers and painted those gold.

I then wrote “Aloha to” in yellow puff paint. I also broke a couple leis to get the flowers from and hot glued them on the corners of the sign. We just hot glued the sticks to the back of them and put them in a cute mason jar!

For Photo Booth props we went to party city and bought some fun leis, sunglasses and hats! We made fun photo booth signs as well that said “Party Like a Pineapple” and “Aloha to 50”. We also bought and laminated fun mustaches and lips!

Our guests were greeted at the door with leis and a  sign that said “Aloha Take a Lei”. This really made people get into the Hawaiian spirit and made the party very festive!

Here is one of the displays that we had in the Kitchen!

I bought the wooden letters to spell out A-L-O-H-A and spray painted them with metallic gold spray paint.

This cute burlap banner was pretty simple to make as well! The banner itself came pre-made from JoAnn Fabrics. We also bought twine to hang the banner up on the wall. We then took yellow and green puff paint and drew the pineapples by hand. We then sprayed them with spray adhesive and sprinkled on gold glitter!

Since we were on a time crunch with making all of these decorations, we decided to buy the cupcakes from a local bakery. We just bought chocolate and vanilla cupcakes to keep it simple. We then bought drink umbrellas and put them all on the cupcakes to make them look Hawaiian! Again, very simple but so cute!

For these yummy pineapple sugar cookies we bought a pineapple cookie cutter from Amazon! We love Amazon!! We then used a simple sugar cookie recipe and added some pineapple extract. We made buttercream frosting and used food coloring to make it yellow. We had edible green gel to make the crowns of the pineapple! They were DELICIOUS!

Tropical Sangria

This Tropical Sangria recipe was a hit! Everyone loved this fruity concoction and was asking for the recipe. I made a separate post so you can make this sangria yourself for your next get together or for a #ManicMonday drink.

I LOVE the cups that we bought for this party! They were so much fun. Click the links below to see where we bought them from (Amazon again!!:)):

This sign was by far one of my favorite parts of this party! My mom was turning 50 and I wanted something fun to display. I found this awesome digital on Etsy. Find this poster (Click here)

After buying the digital I went to Walgreens and bought it in a poster size for around $15.00!

For extra decoration we bought the frames below for $5 at Target. We then went to Michaels and bought cute scrapbook paper that went with our theme! One of them has a hand drawn pineapple, the other says “Party Like a Pineapple” and the last one has Hawaiian stickers on it.

Last, but DEFINITELY not least, our family friends made this amazing pineapple fruit tray!!!! Isn’t it the coolest tree ever? Such a great idea! The fruit was good to 🙂
