Wine Cork Letters

Wink Cork Letters (1)

Okay- if your like me, you love wine- WINE WEDNESDAY is your favorite day (HA!)?? But seriously, who doesn’t love a good glass of wine after a long hard day at work? Well here is an incentive for you to save all of your wine corks! Don’t throw them in the trash! There are so many cute DIY projects you can make for around your house using your used wine corks!

My sister bought me this cute little wine cork holder for my wine bar (another project-coming soon!). She bought this from one of my favorite stores- Kirkland’s. They have the cutest home decor- I must warn you though….it is dangerous because you will want to buy everything! Sometimes I walk in the store and just have to pause because I don’t even know where to start. There is cute decor everywhere you turn- seriously!!

So save up those wine corks so that you can make some cute projects- especially these cute letters to hang up on the wall! Are you not a big drinker but love the cork decor? That’s okay! You can go into a local bar/restaurant and they will usually give you some OR if you are an Amazon fan like myself, you can order bulk wine corks for around $10.00!

I have to thank my friend Jessica who was not only the best mentor for when I was a student teacher but she is one of the best home decorators and one of the craftiest gals I know! So I have to say she is my inspiration for this wine cork project! Thank you to Jessica!!!

So for this Wine Cork Letter project, I chose to do the letter H (my last name initial). If you have ever been to my house, you will learn that I am just a tad obsessed with the letter H! 😉

So for this project you will need just a couple things. You will first need to purchase a giant letter. I purchased my letter from JoAnn Fabrics for about $6-7.00 and used my coupon (hooray for coupons!). I purchased the thicker letter just for a little more “pop!” I think it stands out on the wall better. You can also purchase a flat letter if you aren’t looking for as bold of a statement on your wall, it will still look adorable either way!!

Besides the giant letter (or you can go with a smaller letter to), you will need a ton of wine corks (depending on how big your letter is). You will also need a hot glue gun and plenty of glue to fill it with.

Once you have all the supplies, start crafting! Hot glue the pieces on as close together as possible. Yes, due to the circular shape of the corks and the straight lines of the letters, you are going to have some gaps, and that is fine! It will turn out great in the end!

An additional idea for this project would be to paint your letter before adding on the corks. I really like the rustic & authentic look. However, if you are a person who really loves a pop of color, go for it! Let us know how it turns out!

Here is the final product! I am IN LOVE 🙂 with this cute letter! As I stated above, I am hanging it above my wine bar that I am creating in my dining room. I told you I love wine! The wine bar will be in a future post to come! I also hope to post more wine cork ideas in the future!
